Guest Post & Giveaway From Crazy Beautiful Unique

Hey ya'll (that's Southern for 'hello everyone;)! My name is Celeste and I am a sponsor this month on Lindsey's amazing blog. I thought I would introduce myself so you can get to know me a little better.

I blog over at Crazy Beautiful Unique where I talk about all kinds of stuff. On Tuesdays, I have a feature called "5 Great Etsy Gifts for...", where I go window shopping on Etsy and find 5 items that would make great gifts within that week's theme. Last week, the theme was Autumn, so I found cute hats, scarves, and gloves on Etsy to share with my readers. I would love for you to stop by on Tuesdays to see what I find on Etsy :)

Speaking of Etsy, I also have a shop on there called A Girl and Her Clay. I sell cute charms and jewelry that I made from polymer clay. It's a new craft medium for me, but I'm loving it so far! Clay is so versatile and easy to work with. I'm still learning lessons about the do's and don'ts of clay along the way. For example, I placed some charms I made on a Styrofoam plate to make more room on my craft table. Well, when it came time for me to take the charms of the plate and place them in the oven, the charms had begun to form a sticky bound to the plate. I had to take my blade and gently scrape them off. Lesson learned! LOL!

On the more personal side - I've been married for almost 6 years to the most amazing man who is truly my best friend and better half. We have two 'fur babies' together, a dog named Peanut and a cat named Oreo. We love to spend time together walking, talking, playing video and board games, watching anime (Japanese cartoons) and hanging out with our friends.

I am a certified expanded duty dental assistant, which is very hard to become. The national board test you have to take are incredibly hard, but rewarding once you know you've passed them. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to work as a dental assistant because about 2 months after graduating from school, I was diagnosed with Tourette's syndrome. This affects the right side of my body (which I'm right-handed) so I don't trust myself to handle sharp instruments around patients just yet. Along with this, I also deal with depression, bipolar disorder, and gluten intolerance. My life isn't easy, but I'm living and trying my best to stay positive.

Thanks for reading this and getting to know me a little bit better. I have tons more to tell you, but I don't have the time or space to in this guest post :) I guess you'll have to come visit me at my blog to learn more about me. I look forward to meeting you :)

Now, head below to enter Celeste's giveaway! One of my readers will win a Pink French Macaroon Necklace and two Iced Chocolate Doughnut Cell Phone Charms. Ends on October 8th. Also, Celeste is giving my readers 20% off in her shop! Code: DREAMS20

First & Last: Concerts

I'm linking up to Ashley, of House of Glass, First & Last series. Today is about my first & last concert.

My first concert was Ashlee Simpson at the Roosevelt Field Mall, but I really couldn't see her too well. And I don't really remember it. So my real first concert was Warped Tour 2008 when I was 17. I saw The Academy Is..., Every Avenue, and We The Kings. It was amazing and it was a great experience. Ever since than, I've been going every summer.

Every Avenue & I (They've changed so much; their music and style has changed for the better)

The Academy Is...

Ironically, the last concert I went to was Warped Tour 2012. I went with my friend and her friends and I had an amazing time. It was much better than last year's. I saw Tonight Alive, You Me At Six, Sleeping With Sirens, Yellowcard, Funeral Party, and Pierce The Veil.

My profile picture is from Warped Tour. I'm with Jenna, the lead singer of Tonight Alive. They are the nicest people and I love their band.

Tonight Alive

Funeral Party (I missed the first 2 two songs in their set; those 2 happen to be my favorite)

You Me At Six (Best crowd ever!)

Sleeping With Sirens (It was starting to get dark and I was really far away, but my friend and I enjoyed it; perfect ending to my night & day)

Pierce The Veil

That's it!

Have a lovely night!

A Crafter's Dream Christmas Giveaway

I'm so excited to bring you, along with My Merry Messy Life, Earning-My-Cape, and Tutus & Tea Parties, A Crafter's Dream Christmas Giveaway

This is a group giveaway opportunity with a Christmas, crafting, and supporting small business theme! Each blogger is offering her/his own giveaway worth $25 or more. It will run from October 21, 2012 to November 4, 2012 and bloggers, as well as shop owners, are welcome to sign up to join in the celebration. Bloggers who are not crafters and shop owners who are not bloggers can still join the giveaway by pairing up together! If you need help finding a shop or blogger to link up with, we will do our best to help.

About our theme:
Christmas is just around the corner, and the time to start crafting our gifts for friends and family is now! Some of the blogs in the giveaway group will be giving away some awesome crafting supplies!

Sometimes we want to give a handmade gift, but just don't have the time or know-how to make them ourselves. This is a great opportunity to support small businesses and shops who offer handmade items! Some of the blogs in our giveaway group will be highlighting such small businesses and offering giveaway items for them, as well. Even if you don't win the giveaway, we hope that you will keep these small businesses in mind when shopping for that perfect gift for your special someone.

Here is how it will work:

Bloggers:
  • Each blogger will run their own unique giveaway, worth at least $25 or more, on their own site using Rafflecopter as the entry form. Please set your Rafflecopter to start at 12:01am October 21, 2012 and end at 12:01am November 5, 2012. You have total control over what you would like to give away (as long as it ties in with our Christmas/craft/small business theme) and to whom (country).
  • Please announce that you have joined on Twitter using this hashtag - #ACraftersDream,  and/or make the announcement on your Facebook Page.
  • Facebook Group - (this is optional) find our group, A Crafter's Dream Giveaway Group, on Facebook and request to join (you must be using Facebook as your actual name and not through your blog page for it to work)
  • Please write a post announcing you have joined the giveaway, and include the html from the form that you will fill out.
  • Grab the giveaway button and put it in a prominent place to promote it on your site! The more bloggers who sign up, the more entries we ALL get!
  • Please fill out this form to get started.

Shop Owners:
  • You can team up with a blogger on your own, or we can help match you with a blog to sponsor with a giveaway item worth $25 or more, from your shop.

Help Save Oliver

Sweet N Sour Deals has put together a giveaway in honor of Oliver James, a rescued Golden Retreiver Puppy.
Oliver James was rescued before he was even born by Laura Kody.
At 8 weeks old Oliver suddenly lost his ability to walk, and Laura began taking him to vets to find a cure. They saw 9 vets and spent thousands of dollars on testing, but no one knew what his condition was or could give them much hope for his survival. Finally, They saw a specialist and he was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Osteo-dystrophy.
Over the past year she has tried every treatment available for him and watched him go through recurirng bouts of joint swelling, lameness, and pain so terrible that he couldnt bear to be touched.
A few months ago he started screaming when she touched his mouth, and at that time the vet diagnosed him with his second condition, Craniomandibular Osteopathy.
Over the next few weeks his jaw went through similar bouts of swelling, pain, infection, and calcification that his legs had felt before. Finally his jaw closed shut permanently. He has been unable to eat, drink, pant, chew, or even lick his lips ever since. Laura bottle feeds him 6-10 times a day to keep his weight up, but despite her many efforts he weighs only a very scary 15.4 pounds. To put that in perspective, his littermates all weigh around 60. His toenails have begun to fall out from malnourishment.
You can read Oliver's Full Story HERE
Laura also posts daily updates on the Help Save Oliver James Facebook page HERE
In honor of Oliver James, we have had some amazing blogs, including us, donate prizes to spread the word about Oliver James.
The prizes include...
Philips Satin Perfect Epilator $99.00 ARV

A Diamond Candle ARV $25.00
A Homemade Flower Wreath
And a set of 3 Rosaries!
(picture to come)
Enter in the Rafflecopter Below!
Thank You So Much For Helping Save Oliver James!

I'm participating in this giveaway by making the handmade wreath.
