New Years Resolutions

  1. Try not to procrastinate too much and finish things I've started.
  2. Try to blog more on here. After a while, I stop blogging and I end up deleting it. This is like my third try with a blog on here.
  3. Get out of the rut I'm in and move on with my life.
  4. Start living more.
  5. Take chances (more often).
  6. Wear my hair down in public more often. I never wear down anymore when I go out. I'm very self conscious about it, even though I have lovely hair. Also (here's another excuse), it gets in my way, since it's long. It also needs to be cut, but that's another story.
  7. Lose weight (doubt it'll happen, since I like to bake).
That's all I can come up with at the moment. But I think it's pretty good for now, right? I'll most likely add to this sometime next month and make an updated list.

Have a lovely day! Another post will be up tonight.

Good Mail Day

A letter from my pen pal Erin.

A package from my pen pal Agape. I love the envelope it came in. It has Mickey Mouse and his friends on it. She sent me some stationary and some decorative tape for Christmas.

And one of my orders from Amazon came. I ordered 4 books with a credit that I had. I sold my textbooks back and I got like a $100 credit, so I bought 4 books and a leaf paper punch.

Anyway, the first book is "Art Saves" by Jenny Doh.

And the second one is a fantasy book, "The Name of The Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. I love fantasy books and I have a whole bookshelf filled with them (I'm going to make a post about my collection soon). I still need to read them and I'm running out of room, so I better stop buying them for now. The book is 722 pages and 92 chapters long. I've never read a book with that many chapters before. At my rate, it may take me a whole year.

Have a lovely night!

The Cookie Monster

I've made cookies before. Chocolate chip, a three chip cookie, roca cookies, etc. And I usually make 2 or 3 dozen. So last night I was looking for a cookie recipe to make for tomorrow and I came across double chocolate sprinkle cookies. They looked so good and I decided I would make them. Well, I guess I didn't think carefully. The recipe makes 9 dozen cookies. Yes, you read that right; 9 dozen. Since I had all the ingredients I figured, why not do them? It won't be a lot; I've done 3 dozen before. Well, let's just say I was able to do it and somehow managed but next time I'm cutting it half. This is the result of 9 dozen cookies before they're baked.

This is when all the ingredients were incorporated, except for the chocolate chips, walnuts, and sprinkles.

And this is what they look like after everything has been mixed in. As you can see from the two pictures it took 2 bowls for this to get mixed plus my hands.

And now they're all baked. Well, I didn't bake all 9 dozen. The rest of the dough is in the freezer for next time. I just made 5 trays (and ate some along the way :D)

I also made red velvet cupcakes, but I don't have a picture of them. But I can tell you they were nice and moist. I've made them before and they were dry. This recipe is definitely a keeper.

Have a lovely weekend!

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Letter Writing/Pen Paling

I love pen paling and writing letters. I have a ton of pen pals (53-ish?) and I keep on accepting requests. I need to stop. Really I do. I can't keep up with all the writing but I love it. Due to this, my box is starting to look a lot like the last picture.

This Baby

I don't even want kids but this baby is adorable. Look at that face! Ughhh.....

Bunnies

Aren't they cute?

Johnny Depp

He's my favorite actor. I loved him in Pirates, Finding Neverland, and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. He's just a great actor. What else is there to say?

Snail Mail

Received this is cute card in the mail yesterday. It's from Charley from England. We exchanged Christmas cards this year.

Received these three letters from my pen pals in the mail the other day. The first one is from Verena, the second letter is from Agape, and the third one is from Breanne, all from California. It was a California mail day.

And this is my box of letters that I've received and responded to. I'm running out of room in that box and may have to start on a second box.

I'll post my other letters (and cards) tomorrow and the rest of the week. I haven't taken pictures of them yet and there's a lot, so that may take a while to upload them all.

Want to be pen pals? Then email me and we'll talk.

Have a lovely day!

Chase All Your Dreams....What It Means

Chase all your dreams is a line from, Let It Ride by Automatic Loveletter. The rest of the line is "Chase all your dreams and don't let them go". That line is the title to my Tumblr and I was going to make it the title to this blog, but I thought it was kind of long.

Anyway, the line is pretty self explanatory, so I don't think I need to explain it to you. But it's something I believe in and keep in mind.

I really don't know what else to say about it, except take a listen to the song. I think you'll like it and/or the band. The lead singer, Juliet Simms, has this gravel-y type voice and she can belt out a song. Her lyrics and the emotion in her voice, are heart wrenching at times. I think she's going to be on that show The Voice. I really hope she is and I'm hoping she wins the show. I've met her before and she's the sweetest person ever and she puts on a great performance. If you like what you hear and she's on tour, definitely go see her. You won't regret it!

Have a lovely day! Another post will be up later today.

Marry The Night

Marry The Night by Lady Gaga

This is one of my favorite songs by her. It's like my anthem and I get so inspired and a ton of other emotions when I listen to this song. I know a lot of people don't care for her or something along those lines, but I happen to love her. I don't like to admit it, but I love her. I love that she's not afraid to be different, that she's accepting of everyone, and I just love who she is. On Thanksgiving this year, I actually stayed up to watch her her special on TV. I was so tired that night but I watched it and I loved it. She's a huge inspiration to me and I'm slowly learning (finally) that it's ok to be different and not everyone has to like you., but I'm mainly learning that it's ok to be different and I'm trying to be unique and different everyday...well, at least I think so.

Have a lovely evening/night!

Just A Thought...

As we know, I love music and I also love art and crafting. And as we also know, I'm in my third year of college and hopefully graduating next fall (if not it'll be in the spring of 2013 or maybe in January 2013, who knows). Since, I'll be graduating soon, I need to decide where I'm going and what I want to do with my life. And I kind of have an idea as to what I want to do, but everyday it changes. Most days it's the music business and opening a record store or record label (or something along those lines) or opening a bakery. But as of this morning, a new career popped into my little head. Open a art studio!

You see, my dad and I were talking about me becoming an art teacher the other day and I turned that idea down immediately. I mean, I can't draw and I never took an art class in high school. But this morning, I was going through one of my daily reads on here and I came across this blog. She opened an art studio and offers classes, not just for adults but also for kids. She also hosts birthday parties there. Once I watched the video, I was so inspired to open an art studio and do the same or something along those lines. Now, I don't have many young cousins (the youngest is 4 and the next youngest is 9) and I don't have any siblings. But I just love the idea of working with kids and doing art with them. True, I can't draw to save my life and I don't paint that well (I mainly do abstract paintings and art journaling), but I thought it would be so much fun. I've been shopping online for some paint technique books, so I could always teach myself through them (those books always look fascinating and all).

So I'm making it a new year's resolution to teach myself and to read one of those painting technique books. I'm also making a resolution to change my life and get out of the rut I'm in. I don't know how but I know I'll figure it out. Everyone I know is doing something with their life, they're actually getting somewhere with their life. Where am I? Stuck in a rut because I'm too indecisive, have too many interests, and I don't like committing to one thing for to long. Plus, I'm scared to move forward and change and take chances. There are more reasons as to why, but I won't get into them.

Well, I'm off to go do some shopping online for one of those art books. Oh, and don't forget there's a 40% off sale going on in the shop! Use the code HOLIDAY11 to get 40% off. Good through the 31st.

Have a lovely day!

On the Shelf

I've always loved collecting things. Little trinkets, odd little things, rocks, bouncy balls, unique items, etc. It started when I was young I guess. My grandmother and I would go scavenger hunting and collect junk/garbage. Now you're probably thinking "Why?" or "What did we use this junk for?" and to be honest I have no idea why or what we used it for. I think my grandmother was just bored with me and didn't know what do when I was like 7 years old. So ever since then I've been a collector (and I'm also a pack rat, but that's another story). Today, I still collect little trinkets, unique items, odd little things, but now I collect journals, music, things for my art work, teabags (even though I rarely drink tea. I prefer hot chocolate!), and many other things. So starting next week, I will post collections of mine and other collections I find interesting.

Have a great evening/day and a lovely weekend!

Midnight City Creations

As some of you may know, I create my own jewelry and sell it on Tumblr. Well, now my store, Midnight City Creations, is on storenvy! Most of the pieces I sell on Tumblr are up there and until Dec. 1st, there's a Black Friday sale going on, 15% off all the items in the store. Unlike Tumblr, I had to charge shipping but it's relatively cheap, $2 for your whole order. So if you're interested check it out here. And if you don't have the money right away, I will put it on reserve for you. But I will only hold it for a month, after that it goes back up for sale.

The Pen Pal Project

As some of you may know, I run The Pen Pal Project on Tumblr. But now, I'm also running a similar blog on here. It has the same name but I'll be posting letters I've received and letter/pen pal related things. Check it out here.

Snow in October?!

Song of the Day: Let It Snow by Frank Sinatra

That's right, snow in October. Well, at least here in NY and on the east coast. It's October but it feels like and looks like December. It's freaking me out but at the same time I like it. It's unusual to have snow this time of year and I think because it's "odd" I like it. They said if this was December this would be a major snow storm. I think it's going to be a bad winter, again. And mother nature you have a sense of humor. It's her Halloween trick to us. First am earthquake, then a hurricane, and now snow in October? What's next?

Have a great day!

Song of the Day: The ARK by Not Advised

"But they're right this is hard, but we're not gonna change....We'll just hold our heads up high for one last chance and we'll try and make it....We've made it this far on our own. So are you with me, tell me are you with me?"

Love this song and band. Check them out, they're definitely worth it.

With this song I feel like I can do anything and accomplish anything, especially when it comes to The Jukebox. I've received great comments about it recently and it's making me really happy. I don't finish many things and I give up pretty easily, but this is one thing I won't give up. So this song is perfect for me. People may put me down and I may not have a ton of likes or followers on the blog and it's not a huge success yet, but if I keep working at it, one day it'll be a huge success (more than it is now) and I know all my hard work will pay off. I'm going to stop here now, I feel like I'm rambling and you get my point.

Anyway, had a pretty good day. Went to see my History of Photography professor to drop my class and then went to Administration to drop it off. Had a test in Anthropology, which took me 20 mins. to do (and it's a 3 hour class) so I got out at 10:30. Came home, relaxed, baked some more cookies, and later I'll be doing some more letter writing. I was supposed to go see my friend tonight and hang out at her house but her grandfather passed away this morning, so she canceled our plans.

And I have off tomorrow and Friday! I'm liking Wednesday's lately.

How was your day?

Monday Monday

Song of the Day: Helena Beat by Foster The People

"Yeah yeah and it's okay. I tie my hands up to a chair so I don't fall that way. Yeah yeah and I'm alright. I took a sip of something poison but I'll hold on tight."

I had to take 3 buses to get to school and the same 3 buses to get home. And on one of the buses, is pretty much standing room only; I don't get a seat on that bus very often. So every time I take that bus, I listen to Helena Beat by Foster The People. Some of these drivers drive like the wind and you feel like you're on a rollercoaster. And the chorus is perfect for the bus ride, especially when you stand.

You know, being on the bus (standing at least) is like being at a concert. You're standing next to people, so there's no room to move (barely), and if people need to get off, they're squeezing by you because there's no room. It's just like a concert. If someone wants to get out of the crowd, they squeeze by you. And if you're in a crowd, there's no room to move either.

Anyway, I had one class today, business, took a test in that class, and she said after we were done, we could go (for once she let's us go early). Got out around 2:15 and got home at 3:30; I had to walk 6 blocks to my house (long story) but it was a decent day. No rain, thank God and I think I passed my test. Now I have two days to study for my Anthropology test, which is Wednesday. I'm not looking forward to Wednesday; I can't wait for that day to be over with. After the test I need to go drop my photography class, which isn't a problem. The problem is, in order for you to drop a class, you need yo fill out a form (no problem) and get your professor's "autograph". And my professor doesn't have the best office hours. So if I finish my test early on Wednesday, I need to wait around until 1, just so my prof. can sign the form. Such a hassle but it'll be worth it in the end. I just hope there's no problem, like getting it signed during her office hours and during class (I don't know if that made sense).

Thank God I'm off tomorrow.

So how was your day?

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Owls

This cookie jar owl is adorable. I love anything that has owls on it or is an owl collectible. The actual animal I'm not crazy about but owl items I love.

These owl fabrics are adorable. If only I knew how to sew, I would make so many things with these fabrics, like pillows. Now I need to learn how to sew.

Journal Pages

Journal pages. I love looking at them.

Autumn and Halloween

Snail Mail

I love snail mail. I recently got into it and I have quite a few pen pals that I write to. Plus, this is a really creative way to design your envelopes. I need to try it.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Southwest Pretzels
Don't these pretzels looks delicious? I need to make them.

Christian Climer

He's the guitarist of one of my favorite bands, There For Tomorrow. I love this man (even though I don't him personally). He's perfect and extremely good looking and has a great smile (as you can see). And he needs to smile more. And...*swoon*. I really hope he doesn't see this.

Corgi's

I love these dogs. Aren't they adorable?

The Academy Is... and William Beckett

William Beckett, lead singer of my all time favorite band The Academy Is... I love this band with all my heart, they've always been there for me. I recently saw them at FBR's 15th anniversary show and it was the best night and totally worth the money.
