Attention! Attention!

Have any buttons that you don't need anymore or plan on using at all? Well, if you said yes to that question, I need them! I will take them off your hands.

Now, you're probably wondering what the heck I'm going to do with all these buttons. I plan on using them to make felt pinwheels for my handmade note cards. So, once again, if you have any un-used buttons, I would love it if you could give them to me.

In exchange for your wonderful gift, I will send you something in return. I can make you a few note cards, I can make you a pinwheel, I bake you something, etc. Whatever it is, we'll talk and work something out.

So, if you're willing to let go of your buttons, email me at mscdyson@ymail.com.

Thanks! I appreciate it!

Have a lovely day!

New Series: Girl Talk

Girl Talk is a new weekly/monthly series on here where I interview you! That's it! It's that simple. Why am I doing this? Well, as some of you may know, I'm on Tumblr. I see a lot of negative posts on there from girls about how they look, feel, etc. There are number of girls on there that self-harm. So, I thought this would be a great series to try to bring some positivity back into the internet/blogging world.

This is how it'll work. I'll email you a few questions, you provide the answers (of course), along with a picture of yourself, any links as to where we can find you, and a short little biography. Girl Talk will start soon, in about two weeks. But for now, I am accepting inquiries. So if you're interested in this, email me at mscdyson@ymail.com and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Any questions, either leave it as a comment or email me.

Have a lovely evening!

Sponsor In June

Since June is coming up, I was thinking of starting to sponsor blogs on here. I don't believe in charging for AD space, so it would be free. The only thing I ask is that we trade buttons and that your button be 150 x 150. So if you're interested, email me at mscdyson@ymail.com.

Also, if you don't want to trade and you rather do an interview with me, email me! I was thinking of doing interviews as a way to sponsor blogs, instead of the regular sponsorship that everyone else does.

Either way, email me of you're interested in trading or the doing the interview.

Have a lovely evening!

Fab Friday

Fab Friday is a new series on here. Every Friday I'm going to talk about something that's fabulous, really cool, or something I really love.

Today's Fab Friday is nail polish! I love nail polish and as you can see in the picture above, that's my whole nail polish collection. I have 32 bottles at the moment and this weekend I'll probably buy more! I haven't always loved it. I used to hate nail polish when I was younger and in high school. That's probably because I went to private school all my life and in elementary school (which went from K-8th grade) we weren't allowed to wear it. In high school (private again), we were allowed to wear it, but in the beginning I didn't care for it. I don't remember exactly when I started liking it, probably in 11th grade I started liking it more and more. So I would since 11th grade I've been collecting, wearing, and loving nail polish. Let's take a peek at my collection and favorite colors.

Isn't this dish lovely? I bought it for a few dollars at Urban and Outfitters (I love that store).

I love the last color a lot. It's hard to get a sense of what the color really is, it's better in person, but it's a lovely sparkly red (and it's not a deep red, it's just right).

That's all for Fab Friday! Hope you enjoyed it!

Have a lovely evening!

5 Question Friday: A Link Up

Linking up to Five Crooked Halos' 5 Question Friday

1. Are you a napper?

Well, it depends. I don't nap at home but if I'm in the car and I'm really tired or if the car starts to lull me to sleep, I'll take a nap.

2. What was your favorite subject in school? Most hated?

Hmmmm....I pretty much hate school to be honest, but my favorite subject would have to be chorus class or history. The class I hated is and will always be math and/or physical ed.

3. Did you have the something old new borrowed and blue at your wedding? What were they?

Haha, I'm not married yet.

4. What one thing are you determined to do this summer?

I'm determined to take more chances, try new things, go on an adventure; basically enjoy my life and summer.

5. Ice cream or Popsicles?

Definitely ice cream! I mean, if there's only popsicles around, I'll have one, but if someone has ice cream and popsicles, I'm going for the ice cream.

Have a lovely day!

Miss Representation

Miss Representation is a film about "how American youth are being sold the concept that women and girls’ value lies in their youth, beauty and sexuality". I discovered this film on Whispering Sweet Nothings this morning. I watched the trailer and immediately felt like I should also bring awareness to this film.

After watching it, it got me thinking. Yes, media is to blame for how women are viewed. But they're not at fault 100%. Toy companies are at fault as well. I remember learning in Anthropology about gender specific toys. Girls get Barbies and other types of dolls, so they can play house. We also get a kitchen set, so we can pretend we're cooking for our dolls (I even had one!). Boys get the trucks and G.I Joes to play with. My Anthropology professor showed my class a toy that was geared towards girls. It was a toy cleaning trolley and it had cleaning supplies on it as well; just think of the play kitchen you had when you were younger, it's very similar. I never knew they had such a thing until last year!

So yes, toy companies and the media are at fault, but history is to blame as well. I know we can't change history, but I'm blaming it. If you go back to the 1200's, 1300's, 1400's, etc. who was number 1 all the time? Men. Who was the king? Men. Who went to war? Men. Who was the first president of the U.S? A man! Get were I'm going with this? Men were thought of as superior, number 1 for years now. This mindset that women are lower than men and men are superior has been going on for years. This way of thinking has been with us for years, as well as passed down to us by our ancestors. Your 30th great grandfather had this mindset and passed it down and about 800 years later, we still have this mindset. Yes, we learn that men are better and women are lower. But I believe we were born with that mindset. I believe it's been with us for many years and as I said above, our ancestors passed it down to us.

Like I said, there's nothing we can do about it now, we can't change history. But now we have to fix it; it's up my generation and the next generation to fix 800 years of  "men are better and women aren't" and "women are only good for domestic work and having children".

I have to admit though, I do fall for all the images I see in the media. I do get negative thoughts and think "Oh, that's how I should look" or "That's what I should do. Then maybe I'll have more friends or a boyfriend". I try not to fall for it or let it get to me, but I can't help it sometimes!

So, watch the trailer and let me know what you think!

I don't state my opinions often on here, but for this, I had to.

Have a lovely day!

Hello and Goodbye: My New Shop

Hello and Goodbye is my new Paper Goods shop. Right now I'm selling handmade note cards, but I plan on selling other paper goods as well. I don't have a clue as to what else I'll sell, but I know I'll come up with  something. The starfish and skyline note cards can be seen below.

I love working with paper and creating things from it. I love it more than jewelry making. So as of now, this will be my focus. I'll still keep Midnight City Creations open and I'll still make jewelry from time to time, but this is my new focus. It might become my permanent focus and store down the road.

Also, since school wraps up next Tuesday, I'll be getting back into the swing of things. You'll be seeing a lot of new posts on here, including a product review about some new soap that I've been using for a few weeks now.

Have a lovely evening!

Music Monday: The Lumineers

Today, I would like to introduce you to The Lumineers. The Lumineers are a folk rock band from Denver, CO, who currently have one album out. Now, I'm not a big fan of folk rock, but this band definitely caught my attention. I haven't listened to the whole album yet but I recommend checking out Ho Hey, which you can listen to below. It's a fun little song, with a very catchy chorus that you can definitely sing along to. It's the type of song that you can sing along to with a bunch of people and just have fun with. So, without further ado, here's Ho Hey. Hope you like it!

Music Monday: Guilty Pleasures - A Belated Post

Forgot to post this yesterday, so here it is!

I must admit when it comes to a really good and catchy song, you'll find me singing along to it, even if I don't like any other song by the artist. They're guilty pleasures and I know I shouldn't like the song because it sounds like every other song out there on the radio, but it isn't my fault! The artist made it really catchy and I'm a sucker for catchy music. So today's Music Monday, is a playlist dedicated to catchy guilty pleasures. Enjoy!

I have a confession to make. I love The Wanted. Yes, they're a boy band and yes, I should be past that boy band stage, but I just can't help it. They're music is catchy, you can dance to it, it makes me happy, I love their voices, and I have a crush on Nathan (who's one of the members). And not to mention they're British, which a definite plus in my book.

I have another confession to make. I really don't like country. Let me explain. Here in NYC, we don't listen to country. There's not one single country radio station here. Maybe in upstate NY they listen to country, but around here we don't. On the radio we have Top 40, rap/hip-hop, and one rock station. We're lucky we have that rock station, or else it would be just Top 40 and rap/hip-hop. Anyway, I don't listen to it (anymore); I didn't grow up listening to it. But there are a few songs that I like, such as Lady Antebellum's Friday Night and I Need You Now and some Carrie Underwood. To be honest, I used to listen to it when I was younger. I was experimenting with different types of genres at the time, so I went through a country phase. I used to listen to the Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, and...well, that's about it. That's as country as I get. Even back then I wasn't into it that much. I still like a few songs from the Dixie Chicks, but I don't listen to them as much anymore. And Shania Twain....I don't listen to her anymore. My point is, since I don't like country, it's a guilty pleasure.

Nicki Minaj's Starships....what can I say? It's catchy and I really really don't like any of her songs. But this one...I can't help it. It's a guilty pleasure! And the same thing with Chris Brown and LMFAO. I don't really listen to them, but Turn Up The Music and Party Rock Anthem are really catchy songs.

I have another confession to make. I actually like some of Ke$ha's songs. I like We R Who We R, Blow, Your Love Is My Drug, and Take It Off. I know I shouldn't like her, she can't sing that well anyway, but these songs are really catchy. And you know I'm a sucker for catchy/dance-y songs. It's funny though, at Warped Tour two years ago, I was talking to someone about her and I actually admitted that I listen to her. Someone else, who was walking by, heard that, said something to me, and I said "It's a guilty pleasure". So you see? She is a guilty pleasure. On a side note, my friend looks a lot like her. It's scary.

That's all folks! Hope you enjoyed today's Music Monday. Next Monday I'll be featuring The Lumineers. I think you'll like them.

Have a lovely day!
